COVID-19 VACCINATION FOR UNPAID CARERS
Scotland’s estimated 700,000 people who care for others called forward for the COVID-19 vaccine. People aged 16 and over who provide vital face-to-face care and support for others and haven’t already been given an appointment are now being invited to self-register for the COVID-19 vaccine. The type of care you provide could be anything from the practicalities of domestic tasks such as regularly helping with the shopping, picking up prescriptions or preparing meals, to personal care such as helping them to wash and dress. It could also be emotional support to someone such as a partner, friend or family member with a long-term health condition.
You can check if you are eligible for the vaccine as a carer by calling 0800 030 8013 or by using the self-registration to get your vaccination at https://nhsinform.scot/carersregister
Dochas Carers' Centre is an independent charity. We help and support unpaid carers by providing information and guidance which can make life better. There are many carers who live many miles from services and access can prove difficult or impossible. We have dedicated Outreach Workers who provide support to carers throughout Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Isles.
You can call in person, phone us, request a home visit or make an appointment to speak with one of our staff during the opening hours of the centre.
Young carers are children under the age of 18 (or 18 and still at school) with caring responsibilities.
